‘Peaky Blinders’ season 4 first look has recently been revealed on social media as ‘Love/Hate’ co-stars Aidan Gillen and Charlie Murphy join the growing cast of BBC Two’s period crime-drama in yet unknown roles.
According to Irish Mirror, the series’ fourth season is still in the middle of filming but a first-look at what to expect has been revealed recently. BBC Two took to social media to share a clip for waiting fans last May 12. The clip was a highlight reel of BBC Two’s upcoming dramas lined up for the year.
Star Cillian Murphy was last seen filming in Liverpool garbed head-to-toe in his period gangster outfit while shooting up with a hand gun. The series is reportedly mostly filmed in Liverpool and Manchester. The 40-year old Irish actor’s co-star Tom Hardy, who plays Tommy Shelby’s rival Alfie Solomons, was also rumored to be in the same city while the series was shooting but he wasn’t photographed on the filming set.
Murphy will be joined by series newcomers Aidan Gillen and Charlie Murphy in the upcoming installment. Gillen is best known for his role as Petyr Baelish a.ka. Littlefinger on HBO’s ‘Game of Thrones.’ He starred in the Irish television series ‘Love/Hate’ with Charlie Murphy, who played the lead role of Siobhan Delaney.
The two are set to reunite once more in the crime-drama series based on the exploits of the Peaky Blinders gang that operated in Birmingham, England in the aftermath of World War I.
During an interview with UPI, Gillen refused to reveal the character he would be playing in the upcoming season while gushing over his involvement. He said, "I can't say anything about the character I'm playing… It's just like the Game of Thrones thing -- 'Don't talk about it.' But this new character is coming into the Peaky Blinders world and I've been asked not to say anything about it.”
He continued, “I suppose the new development in that is that Adrien Brody joined and Charlie Murphy, a great actress from Dublin, joined and I joined. I've only shot a couple of days so far, but I am heading straight back to do a couple of months of that. ... I'm pretty excited about it, actually."
When asked about being introduced as a new character in a series that has been running for three seasons, Gillen replied, "Cool. It's fine. It makes it easier, if anything. They've set it up. They've set the tone. They've done the hard work.”
He added, “Not that it slacks off. I've got to step up to the plate, too. It's such a vividly drawn world, so well established. It feels quite easy to just step into it.”
‘Peaky Blinders’ is expected to return on BBC Two sometime in late 2017. No official release date has been announced as of the present.
