Abu Dhabi is among the locations being weighed for a meeting involving Russia, the U.S. and Ukraine, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Thursday, without giving a date or saying the talks had been scheduled.
After U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff’s visit to Russia, Peskov said no phone call was planned between Russian President Vladimir Putin and the U.S. president. Either leader could request a call, which could then be arranged promptly, he said.
Peskov declined to describe Putin’s talks with Witkoff, saying mediation had to remain private given the complexity of the negotiations. “Megaphone diplomacy and public discussion of proposals could only be harmful,” he said. Asked whether Putin had given Witkoff documents outlining a settlement plan for Ukraine, Peskov said he had not.
The venue discussion follows Moscow’s earlier signal that it was open to November talks. In an interview with Russian state broadcaster Vesti, Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov mentioned Abu Dhabi as a possible host and a tentative mid-November window. His remarks did not confirm a date or location.
