Valencia CF said a Pitchwise-led group will acquire 42% of the Spanish club and provide €100 million in new capital, with Valencia valued at €1.25 billion on an enterprise basis.
Under the agreement announced Oct. 23, Pitchwise will receive the shares from Meriton Holdings, which will retain majority ownership. Valencia said the new capital will be available for direct investment as soon as the deal closes. The club did not disclose the price for Meriton’s shares or the size of its remaining stake.
Valencia’s €1.25 billion figure includes the men’s and women’s teams, the existing Mestalla stadium, which seats 49,000, and the planned Nou Mestalla, designed for more than 70,000 spectators. Reuters reported an equivalent value of about $1.4 billion, based on an exchange rate of $1 to €0.8937 cited in its Oct. 23 report.
Club president Kiat Lim will remain in his post. Pitchwise general partners and sports executives Ann Rodriguez and Corey Woolfolk will join him in a new ownership group. Valencia describes Pitchwise as a combination of private family offices and long-term institutional investors. The group’s backers include KKR co-founders George Roberts and Henry Kravis, as well as Penner Sports Group.
Valencia said the new group will oversee the club’s transition to Nou Mestalla, which it has called a defining milestone in its history. Lim said the investors bring “long-term investment expertise and sports acumen.” Rodriguez and Woolfolk said they were “honoured to join Kiat” in the club’s stewardship.
The transaction remains subject to standard closing requirements, including regulatory approvals. Valencia has not announced a closing date.
