Pizza Hut drops an announcement this week, which will surely excite diners. The pizza chain said it is bringing back a favorite menu that was very popular in the 1990s.
Pizza Hut said that this has disappeared from the menu list and has been on hiatus for almost 25 years. Now it is making a comeback, but for a limited time only.
As per CNN Business, the restaurant’s “Big New Yorker” pizza is coming, and it will be available throughout the United States starting Feb. 1. The said food item was sold for a short time in 1999, but despite its brief appearance, it has quickly become a crowd favorite.
Since being taken off the menu, fans were said to have been asking Pizza Hut to bring back the extra large pizza. The company is finally granting their wish after more than two decades.
The pizza chain is owned by Yum! Brands Inc. indicated that although the Big New Yorker pizza will be available across the country, some stores may not have it. Only participating Pizza Hut restaurants will offer New York-style pizza to diners.
Customers who are Hut Rewards loyalty program members will also get to enjoy an exclusive deal to try out the large pizza edition starting Jan. 31. The Big New Yorker is a 16-inch pizza that is cut into six large slices. With its size, it can be easily folded to feast on.
This is around 30% bigger compared to the regular large-sized pizza sold at Pizza Hut stores. The company said that the return of the Big New Yorker was “inspired by the spirit of New York with an XL pizza that is as big and bold as the city that never sleeps.”
In any case, this new pizza will be sold at a starting price of $13.99, and toppings will vary depending on the customers’ preferences, but there is also a simple choice of double pepperoni flavor.
"The Big New Yorker was a huge hit when we launched it in 1999, setting the stage for future industry innovations like Pizza Hut Melts™ and Detroit-Style pizza," Pizza Hut’s chief marketing officer, Lindsay Morgan, said in a press release. "At 30% larger than our large pizza, now is the perfect time to answer our customers' requests and bring back The Big New Yorker in a big way right before the big game next month."
