Anadolu Agency reported that police in Lakki Marwat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, killed two militants, including a would-be suicide bomber, after launching an operation in response to a tip Wednesday.

Police said the militants opened fire and officers returned fire. Anadolu reported that a third attacker was wounded and escaped.

Police chief Zulfikar Hameed told reporters that security forces had foiled a “large-scale terrorist attempt,” Anadolu reported.

The report linked the attackers to the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). It said Pakistani security forces use the name Fitna al-Khawarij for militants associated with the group.
