A Politico poll reported by The Independent found 9% of President Donald Trump’s 2024 voters planned to back Democrats on Nov. 3, as other measures showed signs of weaker support among younger and Hispanic supporters.
The figures capture stated intentions rather than final vote totals. Among respondents who backed former Vice President Kamala Harris in 2024, just over 2% planned to vote Republican. The Independent said the poll pointed to possible risks for Republican support among younger and Hispanic voters, groups in which Trump had made gains in 2024.
Among Hispanic Trump voters, identification as MAGA Republicans stood at 37% in October, down from 56% at the end of 2025, the poll found. About two-thirds of this group still expected to vote Republican. The Independent also reported concern among Southern Republicans about losing Hispanic support.
Turnout certainty among Trump voters ages 20 to 29 fell to 38% in October from 50% at the end of 2025. The Independent’s account linked disillusionment among some young and Latino voters to the Iran war, living costs and the administration’s deportation tactics.
Trump appealed directly to younger voters in an Election Day video posted by the Republican Party. “It’s so important to get out to vote,” he said. On Monday, Trump said presidents’ parties have faced a historical disadvantage in midterms, while arguing Republicans had made a strong effort. The White House praised his role in the party’s campaign. Natalie Baldassarre, a Republican National Committee spokesperson, said the administration had met its promises.
Separately, a Pew survey found 65% of Hispanic Trump voters planned to choose the Republican candidate in their district, while 11% favored the Democrat. A prior EconoTimes report on Hispanic voters’ midterm preferences covered that subgroup finding.
The Nov. 3 midterms featured races to determine party control of both chambers of Congress.
