More than $100,000 in combined withdrawals from some Polymarket accounts has prompted scrutiny of wagers on Benjamin Netanyahu and Likud placed before polls closed in Israel on Tuesday.
The review covers hundreds of accounts opened around the vote, with bets favoring Netanyahu and his party over rivals. The positions began generating gains within a short time of being entered. Exit polls indicated that Likud’s seat tally exceeded what early reports had shown.
Polymarket introduced election-trading checks ahead of the Nov. 3 U.S. midterms. Shana Bautista, the company’s head of global intelligence and investigations, told NPR that her team had pursued investigations involving dozens of bets tied to the midterms. NPR reported that the group has 16 members and receives hundreds of alerts each day. EconoTimes previously covered the platform’s midterm election checks.
