Fans of Netflix and Marvel's traumatized vigilante must have been surprised when Netflix announced that they would be producing “Punisher” season 2 just a few months after the first season was released by the video streaming website.

When John Bernthal first debuted as the “Punisher” in “Daredevil” season 2, no one expected the vigilante to be a fan favorite that would eventually get his very own Netflix series in 2017.
In an interview with Collider, “Punisher” season 2's showrunner, Steven Lightfoot, mentions that fans can expect the upcoming “Punisher” season 2 to have at least 13 episodes detailing the further adventures of Bernthal's Frank Castle. Unfortunately, Lightfoot did not mention an official target date for the series's premiere.
While “Punisher” season 2 has yet to have an official broadcast date announced by Netflix, the recent release of “Iron Fist” season 2 may provide fans of Marvel programming on the streaming giant with a clue as to which series will be released next.
“Iron Fist” season 2's finale includes a post-credit stinger that show's Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock, believed to have been buried alive in the “The Defenders” season finale, in a confessional booth making a statement, which seems to confirm his commitment to becoming the Daredevil rather than working as both the vigilante and his alter-ego, Matt Murdock.
The scene's presence in the “Iron Fist” season 2 finale might mean that “Daredevil” season 3 is scheduled to be released on Netflix first before any consideration of “Punisher” season 2 happens.
Fans on Reddit are also making educated guesses as to when “Punisher” season 2 may potentially air. Reddit user u/Locke_John mentions Netflix's current trend of releasing the Marvel shows every three months. Considering that “Iron Fist” season 2 just started streaming on Netflix this September, fans can expect “Daredevil” season 3 to premiere sometime in December, with “Punisher” season 2 to be announced for a March or April release in 2019.
