Qatar, Indonesia, Pakistan and Türkiye signed a Badr memorandum on defense industry cooperation Wednesday in Doha, bringing their defense ministries and two industry bodies into a joint production effort.
The signatories were the four countries’ defense ministries, Pakistan’s Defense Industrial Production Organization and Türkiye’s Presidency of Defense Industries. Qatar News Agency said the agreement aims to combine manufacturing capabilities and develop defense industries to meet the needs of allied and friendly countries.
On the sidelines of the signing, Qatar’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan Al-Thani met visiting officials from Pakistan, Indonesia and Türkiye. They included Türkiye’s Minister of National Defense Yasar Guler. Türkiye’s defense industry chief also attended, the agency said.
The officials discussed cooperation and steps to implement Badr. The memorandum gives the participating defense ministries and the two industry bodies roles in that effort.
Other friendly countries may join under criteria agreed by the four participating countries, Qatar News Agency said.
