Qubic said a weakness in how some wallet seeds were generated gave attackers access to 1,404 wallets, with about 2.94 trillion QU transferred over 104 minutes late Oct. 17.

Qubic put the start at 7:42 p.m. ET on Oct. 17 (23:42 UTC) and the end at 9:26 p.m. ET that same day (01:26 UTC on Oct. 18). Both endpoints fell on the evening of Oct. 17 in ET, while the UTC interval crossed midnight.

Qubic attributed the incident to insufficient randomness in some seeds. The project said the problem arose during wallet generation and that its protocol was unaffected. It said the weakness let attackers reach assets held in the affected wallets and move them during the stated period.
