Democrat Rebecca Bennett defeated Republican Rep. Thomas H. Kean Jr. for New Jersey’s 7th Congressional District, the Associated Press reported Tuesday.

Democrats flipped the seat in 2018 before Kean won it back in 2022, the New Jersey Monitor reported.

All 435 seats in the U.S. House of Representatives were on the ballot in the midterms. Closely contested House and Senate races would help determine control of Congress, Anadolu Agency reported. The agency said counting continued in many states while voting was still underway in some western states.

For election-night returns, the New Jersey Division of Elections refers voters to county websites; the agency does not publish its own running tally.

EconoTimes has also covered another Democratic House win in New Jersey, in the 12th Congressional District.
