‘Reign’ spoilers for season 3 episode 15, entitled “Safe Passage”, revealed that Mary is about to weigh in on one of the toughest decisions of her life – to escape safely back to her home in Scotland or to stay and defend her allies in France.
The teaser preview posted on Carter Matt revealed that Mary (Adelaide Kane) is finally given the chance to return home as swiftly and as quietly as she could. The scene opens to her leaving on a horse-drawn carriage after Sebastian “Bash” (Torrance Combs) bids her farewell. However, it remains unclear whether Mary did make it back to Scotland.
Another interesting scene from the promo is when Catherine de’ Medici (Megan Follows) tells Mary that they have to go their separate ways and rule over their own separate nations. However, according to Celebrity Dirty Laundry, the Queen Mother is framed for murder and is threatened with exile or execution.
Meanwhile, Lola (Anna Popplewell) tells Mary that she could escape France should she do it discreetly but Mary is torn between doing so or staying in France to protect her allies despite the danger.
The teaser eventually flashed Mary on horseback with a sword in hand as she declares “I am Mary Stuart, Queen of Scots.” It still remains unknown whether this was a call to war or simply an assertion of her sovereignty but one could speculate that she chose to stay in France.
‘Reign’ is a historical fantasy-romance television series created by Stephanie SenGupta and Laurie McCarthy. It tells the story of Mary, Queen of Scots, in her younger years living in France.
The CW series first aired on October 2013 and went on to be renewed for season 2 and season 3. It earned the People’s Choice Award for Favorite New Drama in 2014.
'Reign' Season 3 Episode 15 is set to premiere on CW on May 23, 2016.
