Relay Protocol said Nov. 2 it was screening movements linked to the Binance hack and warned transactions on some routes could be interrupted as it worked to keep stolen funds from passing through its service.
The warning described a possible service disruption, not a confirmed freeze of a specific transfer. Relay told users they did not need to take action. Its statement did not give an amount for funds blocked or identify a transfer it had stopped.
Binance said the incident occurred at about 4:05 p.m. ET Oct. 29; it estimated unauthorized withdrawals from its hot wallet at about $6.3 billion. Binance's estimate described the scale of the withdrawals cited in its incident account, while Relay's notice addressed efforts to limit movement through its own service.
