The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported that U.S. payrolls rose by 165,000 in October and unemployment was 4.1% Friday, as silver readings around the release landed on both sides of $52 an ounce. Those market figures came from separate snapshots taken at different times, not synchronized quotes.
FXStreet's Nov. 6 update, issued at 9:31 p.m. ET Thursday (02:31 UTC Friday), placed XAG/USD above $52 after a bounce from around $51.25 during Asian trading. The outlet's account was published before the U.S. employment report.
Kitco showed a spot bid of $51.89 and an ask of $52.14 per troy ounce at 5:29 a.m. ET, before the BLS release at 8:30 a.m. ET. Its displayed daily range was $51.07 to $52.34.
The BLS said nonfarm payroll employment increased by 165,000 in October, while the unemployment rate was 4.1%. Trading Economics reported silver just below $52 in an update posted at 8:52 a.m. ET (13:52 UTC) and linked the post-release softness to a stronger U.S. dollar. The outlet also cited expectations of a possible Federal Reserve rate increase next month in its market interpretation.
The separate reports extend a pattern of provider differences covered in an earlier EconoTimes comparison of silver-price readings.
The BLS revised payroll gains for August and September upward by a combined 84,000. Private-sector average hourly earnings rose 14 cents, or 0.4%, to $38 in October and were up 3.1% over 12 months.
In its chart analysis, FXStreet identified support around $51.70 to $51.65, resistance at $52.34 and another level near $53.35. These were the outlet's technical markers. The BLS release calendar lists the next Employment Situation report, covering November, for Dec. 4 at 8:30 a.m. ET.
