Reuters reported that AIA Group’s value of new business (VONB) fell 5% to $1.42 billion in the third quarter, citing weaker demand in Hong Kong and the Chinese Mainland.
The reported total covers the three months ended Sept. 30, 2026, and is measured on a constant exchange rate basis. Reuters cited $1.48 billion for the year-earlier quarter. The rounded figures imply a decline of about 4%, while Reuters reported a 5% drop.
VONB estimates profit associated with new premium sales and serves as a forward-looking gauge of growth, Reuters said.
The reported quarterly decline followed stronger first-half results. AIA reported VONB of $3.212 billion for the six months ended June 30, 2026, up 10% on a constant exchange rate basis. AIA Group Chief Executive and President Lee Yuan Siong said first-half VONB reached a record $3.2 billion, with growth across distribution channels and in every reportable segment except Thailand.
AIA’s announcement for the third quarter of 2025 put VONB at $1.476 billion, a quarterly record and a 25% year-over-year increase on a constant exchange rate basis. The company also reported growth of 40% in Hong Kong and 27% in the Chinese Mainland during that quarter.
AIA’s financial calendar lists its 2026 third-quarter new business highlights announcement for Friday, Oct. 30.
