TAIPEI, Oct. 30 — Foxconn is pursuing another collaboration with OpenAI, Reuters reported, adding a potential arrangement to the Taiwanese manufacturer’s AI hardware business while leaving its scope and terms unspecified in the report.
Foxconn Chairman Young Liu made the comment after meeting OpenAI CEO Sam Altman in Taipei on Oct. 30, Reuters reported. Liu said the companies would announce the work after details were confirmed. Reuters did not describe what the proposed collaboration would cover or give financial terms.
Reuters also reported that Liu rejected concerns that the AI industry is in a bubble and forecast double-digit growth for Foxconn in 2027.
Foxconn and OpenAI have an earlier arrangement, announced in 2025, centered on AI infrastructure manufacturing in the United States. Foxconn was to develop data-center racks over several generations and prepare U.S. production of related equipment, including cabling, networking, cooling and power systems. OpenAI was to provide information about its hardware needs and could evaluate the systems before deciding whether to purchase them. The companies said the initial agreement carried no purchase commitments or financial obligations.
OpenAI linked the 2025 effort to rising infrastructure needs as AI capabilities advance. It described stronger U.S. supply chains and benefits for U.S. workers and manufacturers as aims of the collaboration.
Foxconn reported second-quarter 2026 revenue of NT$2.53 trillion, up 41% from a year earlier, and net profit of NT$60 billion, up 35%. The company maintained its full-year 2026 outlook for strong growth, citing AI-server demand and expansion in smart consumer electronics. It also said demand for AI production capacity should remain very strong in 2027.
Foxconn’s investor calendar lists October revenue for Nov. 5 and its third-quarter results conference for Nov. 12. The calendar does not list a date for the reported OpenAI announcement.
