Rhodes municipality will begin registering flood damage on Nov. 4 after heavy rain swept vehicles through Archangelos and flooded properties, giving residents a way to document losses for possible aid.

The Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA-MPA) reported a preliminary count of at least 60 vehicles carried away and damaged by floodwater in Archangelos. It also reported flooding at dozens of homes and businesses.

The municipality closed three points in the Archangelos area to traffic and suspended schools and municipal sports facilities across Rhodes for Nov. 2-3. The islandwide suspension followed earlier school closures in four districts.

The Hellenic National Meteorological Service (EMY) issued an orange warning for heavy rain and thunderstorms in the Dodecanese on Nov. 3. The Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection relayed the forecast. Separately, the ministry’s General Secretariat for Civil Protection placed the Dodecanese regional units under Red Code mobilization for Nov. 2-3.

Applications to register damage open Nov. 4 at municipal offices in Afantou and Archangelos. The municipality said officials will use the registrations to assess losses and consider possible financial aid.
