Ripple has completed its latest monthly XRP escrow redistribution, locking 700 million XRP worth more than $1.4 billion back into escrow following its scheduled October token release.

Blockchain tracking data from Whale Alert showed that the San Francisco-based blockchain company returned the 700 million XRP to escrow on October 1. The transactions occurred only hours after Ripple unlocked a total of 1 billion XRP as part of its regular monthly escrow process.

Ripple has followed this system for years, periodically unlocking XRP and returning a significant portion of the released tokens to escrow. The mechanism is designed to create a more predictable schedule for XRP supply entering the market.

The latest relocking occurred through two separate transactions. Ripple placed 400 million XRP back into escrow in one transfer and another 300 million XRP in a second transaction. That means 70% of the 1 billion XRP initially unlocked was returned to escrow.

Although Ripple's monthly XRP escrow activity has become routine, the large transfers continue to attract attention from traders and the broader XRP community. Market participants often monitor the transactions for indications of how much XRP could potentially enter circulation and whether the movements could influence short-term price performance.

Despite the sizable October transfers, XRP showed no immediate bullish reaction. The cryptocurrency remained under pressure and was down approximately 2.5% over the previous 24 hours following the escrow activity.

The muted response suggests Ripple's widely anticipated monthly escrow transactions did not provide a significant short-term catalyst for XRP. Because the releases follow an established schedule, much of the activity may already be anticipated by market participants.

XRP has therefore started October on a weaker footing despite renewed attention surrounding Ripple's escrow movements. Traders will now be watching broader cryptocurrency market conditions, XRP demand and Ripple-related developments for potential catalysts that could determine the token's direction during the remainder of the month.
