Ripple and Robinhood plan to use Ripple USD for institutional settlement and add Ripple Treasury software to Robinhood’s operations, linking a stablecoin partnership with the brokerage’s internal cash-management tools.

Robinhood plans to use RLUSD on the XRP Ledger for institutional settlement across Bitstamp by Robinhood’s institutional business. Separately, it plans to add Ripple Treasury to its financial operations. Ripple said the software can help Robinhood coordinate payments, project cash needs, manage liquidity and risk, and offset obligations between company entities. Ripple did not give a rollout date for the treasury integration.

RLUSD is already live on Robinhood Chain and Bitstamp by Robinhood, Ripple said. Ripple said the stablecoin launched in Dec. 2024. Robinhood expects to make it available in its app later this year.

Ripple said Bitstamp can access Ripple Prime lending and margin financing spanning about 20 digital assets. Ripple Prime clients can also access spot trading on Bitstamp, the company said. The firms plan to add perpetual futures trading on Bitstamp through Ripple Prime later this year. The announcement described the agreement as an expansion of an existing relationship that includes financing and market access.

Ripple’s release put RLUSD’s market capitalization above $2.4 billion. DeFiLlama’s dashboard listed it at $2.568 billion on Oct. 27. Ripple President Monica Long said the partnership responds to institutional demand for integrated financial tools. Johann Kerbrat, SVP and GM of Robinhood Crypto and International, said, “Utility is what moves stablecoins forward.”

The companies did not disclose financial terms or expected settlement volumes. A separate Oct. 27 announcement covered custody support for XRP and RLUSD for eligible institutional clients, described in EconoTimes’ coverage of the custody expansion.

Robinhood expects app availability later this year, while Bitstamp perpetual futures are also planned for that period. Neither milestone has a specific date, and Ripple Treasury’s integration date was not announced.
