Arlington, VA, Nov. 07, 2017 -- “Alexa, open Rosetta Stone.” Now, Rosetta Stone can help fulfill this request through a new skill for Amazon Alexa-enabled devices. A world leader in technology-based learning solutions, Rosetta Stone Inc. (NYSE: RST) has helped millions of people learn a new language for more than 25 years. Through this new language skill for Amazon Alexa, customers can get an introduction to Rosetta Stone language learning in any of seven different languages—Portuguese, Spanish, German, Italian, French, Japanese and Russian—through their Alexa-enabled devices including the Amazon Echo, Echo Dot and Echo Show.
“We’re constantly looking at new ways to unlock language learning for people around the world and building a skill for Amazon Alexa allows us to leverage connected devices to introduce people to new languages in a way we haven’t been able to before,” said Matt Hulett, President of Language at Rosetta Stone. “To easily be able to learn words and phrases, all by asking Alexa—it’s amazing and it speaks to our commitment to continue to innovate and team up with great companies in the tech space. We hope this introduction to new languages will entice users to take their learning journey to the next level.”
Content from Rosetta Stone is designed to provide an introduction to the seven languages available to learners and includes categories such as greetings, directions, shopping and food and drink. Users will enjoy the ability to learn new vocabulary and phrases, and reinforce their learning by using the quiz feature to test their progress. Rosetta Stone language content will get users started on their learning journey and will work across all Alexa-enabled devices.
“We’re thrilled that Rosetta Stone has created a language learning skill for our customers,” said Rob Pulciani, Director, Amazon Alexa. “Rosetta Stone is well known for helping people learn new languages, and now, customers can get started just by having conversations with Alexa.”
Alexa is the cloud-based voice service that powers devices like Amazon Echo, Echo Dot, Echo Show, Amazon Tap, and more. Using Alexa is as simple as asking a question. In the case of learning a new language, customers simply need to say “Alexa, open Rosetta Stone,” for example, and Alexa will respond instantly with content provided by Rosetta Stone. Similar to Rosetta Stone products, Alexa lives in the cloud and is designed to help customers whether they are at home or on the go.
