Local officials said Russian missile strikes killed two people and injured four in Kharkiv’s Novobavarskyi district Monday, Oct. 26, while damaging apartment buildings, homes and a kindergarten.
Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov and Kharkiv regional head Oleh Syniehubov reported the toll in Telegram posts. Syniehubov said the four injured were receiving medical care. They included a 17-year-old girl and three adults: a 60-year-old woman and men aged 61 and 77.
Syniehubov reported damage to four apartment buildings, four private homes, 10 garages and a kindergarten building. He added that firefighters put out fires linked to two cars and a nonresidential building.
Across three Telegram updates, Terekhov documented a first strike and two subsequent attacks in the area. Syniehubov’s first report listed one death; a later update raised the toll to two killed and four injured.
Reuters put Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second-largest city, around 30 kilometers (18 miles) from the Russian border.
