Krispy Kreme Doughnuts Japan Co Ltd will start selling their "Krispy Kreme Premium Sakura An Butter" donut, which contains white beans and cherry blossom petals to maintain the natural pink color and impart the delicate sakura aroma, beginning Friday.
Made of light, fluffy dough and thick, mellow-tasting Hokkaido butter sandwiched between two layers of sakura-a, the Sakura An Butter donut is the latest addition to Krispy Kreme Japan's premium portfolio.
The salted cherry leaves from Japanese Oshima cherry trees kneaded into the bean paste enhance the sweetness while imparting a sense of saltiness, giving Krispy Kreme's premium doughnuts an authentic Japanese seasonal twist.
The surface's sakura petal design and powdered sugar sprinkling evoke the transient splendor of cherry blossoms.
Krispy Kreme Premium Sakura An Butter" donuts are 345 yen apiece, tax included, and are only available until the end of May at the JR Nagoya Takashimaya store.
