The Start-up Challenge Finale at SWIFT's Sibos conference shortlisted Bitcoin custodian Elliptic to compete for a $50,000 prize.
Around 370 companies sent applications to participate in the challenge and Elliptic was among the 15 companies shortlisted to compete in the Innotribe Startup Challenge showcase held in London last week.
Elliptic and XWare42 were the two finalists in the growth-stage startup category. The latter enables banks to provide customers with additional information on their bank statements about their purchases.
"We're very pleased to have been selected as finalists. Strong interest in blockchain technology from established financial players has led to growing demand for Elliptic's services, and and this has been recognised by the judges," said James Smith, CEO at Elliptic, and added, "We took part in the Innotribe Challenge in order to engage more closely with organisations such as SWIFT, and look forward to doing so further at Sibos in Singapore."
