Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe have once again ribbed each other in social media when both stars attended an Oscars party last week. It all started when the actor posted a photo of himself on Instagram where he was seen wearing a lopsided bow tie.
Caitriona Balfe was quick to amicably mock her co-star upon seeing the post. “Hey... I need a guy to tie a bow tie .... you know anyone??” In retaliation, Sam Heughan took shots at the dress the actress wore during the event, which had several heart-shaped cut-outs on its mid-section. The TV couple has always exchanged good-hearted banter on social media and occasionally rib each other for a good laugh, TownAndCountry reported.
Last month, Sam Heughan posted a photo on Instagram where he admitted being lost during a hiking trip in Hawaii. Caitriona Balfe, of course, hopped on the comment section to tease the actor and pointed out that Heughan was wearing his hat the wrong way.
On the professional side of things, Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe have been promoted as executive producers for “Outlander” Season 5. With this development, both stars are expected to be more involved in the events unfolding behind the scenes.
But this doesn’t mean that Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe will have their screen-time reduce for the time-traveling drama. Co-executive producer Maril Davis said that the fifth installment will have the spotlight shining on Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe once more as their roles in the previous season was somehow diminished.
“I do anticipate a return, hopefully, to that, next season a little more. Every season has its different storylines and where we're going. It can't always re-create the first season, which was very special, but it just has to be within the story and feel like it’s organic,” Davis said. The upcoming installment will be gripping as ever as Jamie (Sam Heughan) has now been instructed to find and kill his godfather for having been involved with the Regulators. Of course, Claire (Caitriona Balfe) will stand by her husband’s side as both characters figure out a way to handle the spiraling events that are pulling them towards the historic and inevitable civil war.
