Samsung Electronics Co. will expand the application of HDR10+ to IPTV and video games.
HDR10+, a next-generation high dynamic range (HDR) video technology, delivers more vivid color displays by optimizing the level of brightness and contrast ratio by scene on TVs or mobile devices.
Samsung launched the HDR10+ gaming standard early this year and included it in the TVs and monitors it released this year.
The HDR10+ standard will also be used by KT Corp. for its new set-top boxes that will go on sale in the first quarter of 2019.
The Apple TV program seen on the Apple TV 4K and Samsung TV can also support HDR10+ content.
Around 6,000 HDR10+-certified goods have currently been released by 142 member firms worldwide.
