Samsung Electronics, the South Korean company that makes mobile devices, has recently teamed up with well-known film directors for their promotion of Samsung Galaxy smartphones.
In its new campaign, it has tapped the award-winning director, Joe Wright, for the launching of the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra. The company presented the director by showing a new film he captured using the said device.
On Monday, Oct. 11, Samsung announced its partnership with Wright and other famed directors. The team-up is mainly for the production of films through using just one device. The movies will be filmed entirely with the electronic and tech company’s Galaxy smartphones. In this way, Samsung is hoping to show customers how good their mobile devices are.
As mentioned on Yonhap News Agency, Samsung’s partnership with the filmmakers is part of its campaign titled “Filmed #withGalaxy.” This was made to show and encourage people to use and broaden their creativity using the Galaxy phones.
It was said that Joe Wright, who is known for his directorial work in “Pride and Prejudice,” is the first filmmaker to be presented in the new Samsung campaign. Through the Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G, he filmed the entire “Princess & Peppernose” movie.
This is a musical film that features live-action choreography and puppetry. Wright said that he and his crew used the phone’s 13mm Ultra-Wide lens a lot and the results were excellent.
“My parents ran and founded the first dedicated puppet theater in the UK, and I thought this was the perfect opportunity to get back to my roots,” Wright said via the Samsung press release. “What surprised me the most throughout this process was how quick and easy it was to get right in there and be present with the characters and the story. The camera is always ready, and all you need to do is point and shoot.”
In any case, after Joe Wright’s “Princess & Peppernose” film, Samsung will follow it up with a movie produced by other celebrated directors such as China’s Sha Mo. he also used the Galaxy 21 Ultra 5G to film “Kids of Paradise.” Both Wright and Sha Mo’s films will be released at the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) and they will be shown until Friday this week.
