Saudi General Authority for Statistics has moved two Riyadh forums to 2027, saying the delay is intended to draw more participants from abroad to the meetings.
In a post on X, the authority said it worked with the United Nations Statistics Division on the postponement. It will publish replacement dates through its official channels.
The authority said it wants the forums to better meet the statistics community’s needs and draw more participants from abroad. It said wider attendance would strengthen the UN forum’s expected impact. Road to Riyadh activities will continue, it added.
Anadolu Agency reported that friction between Saudi Arabia and the Houthis has intensified since July, as fighting also resumed between the group and Yemen’s internationally recognized government. The agency reported Saudi Arabia has led a military coalition backing Yemen’s government since March 2015, while the Houthis have controlled Sanaa and other areas since September 2014.
