Saudi-led coalition spokesman Turki al-Malki said Friday, Oct. 30, that forces intercepted a drone near Riyadh and a ballistic missile aimed at southern Saudi Arabia, as the Houthis disputed a separate claim involving Mecca.
The coalition is fighting Yemen’s Houthi movement. Al-Malki made the announcements in two posts on X, saying the drone was intercepted in Riyadh province. He said the missile was heading toward southern Saudi Arabia and attributed its launch to the Houthis.
Earlier Friday, al-Malki said the coalition had also intercepted a drone in the Mecca region and blamed the Houthis. Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree rejected the allegation that the group had targeted Mecca, describing the Saudi account as fabricated.
EconoTimes previously covered a separate Riyadh drone interception for which the coalition did not identify the drone’s origin or target.
