The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported increases in U.S. hiring and quits in September, with the rise in job departures outpacing the gain in employer recruitment.

The month saw 5.402 million hires, 131,000 more than the 5.271 million recorded in August. Quits totaled 3.365 million, 321,000 above August's 3.044 million, a 10.5% increase.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics had scheduled the September Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey (JOLTS) for Tuesday, according to an earlier EconoTimes preview of the release.
