“Shameless” season 10 is definitely in the horizon but the stories to unfold are still under wraps. The next installment will definitely have to show how the dysfunctional Gallagher family will have to deal with Fiona (Emmy Rossum) not being around anymore. However, with the importance of her character in the entire franchise, fans might be wondering if there is ever a chance for Rossum to reprise the role.
Needless to say, Rossum’s exit was an emotional one for the other characters as well as for fans. However, viewers will have to face the music that “Shameless” season 10 will most likely go on without Fiona.
On the other hand, showrunner John Wells promised fans that Fiona will still be part of “Shameless” season 10 in some ways. For one, Wells told Entertainment Weekly that some details about Fiona’s departure will be tackled next season.
Fans may recall that season 9 ended without actually revealing where Fiona is headed next. Some might have thought the mysterious conclusion was intentional. But Wells explained that they filmed a scene revealing her destination. However, it had to be cut out of the episode because it was “about eight minutes long.” “So it will be revealed right at the top of” “Shameless” season 10, the series creator explained.
Wells also promised fans that Fiona’s character will not just “disappear” as the show moves on to “Shameless” season 10. He is hoping that Rossum would consider coming back to “do some calls or something” though nothing is certain yet at this point.
While Rossum’s appearance in future episodes is not in the cards yet, fans will be happy that Cameron Monaghan’s Ian Gallagher will be back for good. But whether or not his love story with Mickey (Noel Fisher) will continue has not been decided yet. “Shameless” season 10 is slated to premiere later this year.
