Shiba Inu’s burn rate exploded by 1,088%, pushing SHIB’s price higher as the market reacts to the surge, according to Shibburn.
SHIB Burn Rate Surges by 1,088%
The burn rate of the second biggest meme cryptocurrency has increased dramatically, climbing in tandem with the SHIB price, according to data made public by the famous Shibburn tracker.
The news got out on Shibburn about the SHIB burn rate skyrocketing by 1,088% since yesterday morning. For the first time since Monday, the burns are now in the green zone.
Nevertheless, the quantity of meme coins burned by the dedicated SHIB community was not substantial, comprising just around 100,000 SHIB meme coins, even if this important statistic experienced an astounding growth.
Still, there has been a dramatic spike in the quantity of coins lost since Monday, when the SHIB army witnessed fewer than 20,000 Shiba Inu tokens roasted in the digital inferno of unspent wallets.
Over 410 Trillion SHIB Burned to Date
There have been a total of 410,727,964,022,502 SHIB burned since these burns began a few years ago. As a gift from the enigmatic SHIB creator, Ryoshi, Ethereum cofounder Vitalik Buterin received half of the quadrillion SHIB supply in 2021. However, Buterin transmitted almost all of that enormous hoard to an unspendable blockchain address.
In his most recent comment, the eminent Canadian programmer said that he had doubts about SHIB's capabilities at the time. Plus, as one of the largest holders, he was keen to avoid accusations of price manipulation.
Price Surge Accompanies Burn Activity
According to U.Today, Shiba Inu price has jumped dramatically over the past day, increasing from $0.00001307 to its current figure of $0.00001385, an increase of about 6%. In the midst of this massive price surge, Shibarium hit a new all-time high with 418 million transactions.
The new token burn mechanism that the SHIB team announced in January was ultimately put out in the beginning of August. Automated SHIB burns on Shibarium will be possible thanks to this technique, which will convert 80% of the gas fee from BONE to Shiba Inu and send it to dead-end wallets.
Using the gas costs they had saved up, the SHIB team destroyed many billion Shiba Inus in November–December 2023 and January 2024 through a series of massive token burns.
