VALLEY CITY, Ohio, May 07, 2018 -- Shiloh Industries, Inc. (NASDAQ:SHLO), a leading global supplier of lightweighting, noise and vibration solutions, recently opened their latest aluminum casting facility in Nantong, China. The state-of-the-art facility will launch producing new, innovative 9-speed, aluminum transmission carriers and reverse carriers through Shiloh’s proprietary, high-integrity casting technology, and has additional roll-outs scheduled.
“We are excited to manufacture our innovative products in a facility strategically located to serve the growing market in China,” said David Jaeger, senior vice president and managing director, CastLight®. “We have experienced significant global demand for our lightweighting solutions and continue to invest resources to meet this growing need.”
The Nantong facility enhances Shiloh’s current aluminum and magnesium casting capabilities in Asia, Europe and North America, allowing for superior service to global programs at a local level. The newly constructed, 150,000 square foot facility is located in the Jiangsu Nantong Science & Technology Industrial Zone.
With initial staffing planned at 60 employees, Shiloh plans to grow that number to nearly 300 in the coming years.
“Our growth at this location will include our proprietary ThinTech® technology, which optimizes the design and production of the lightest cast aluminum product. We will focus on body structure and specific products for the electric vehicle market,” Weibo Weng, managing director, Asia explained. “In addition, we continue to enhance our research and development center here as well.”
Shiloh designs and manufactures innovative lightweight products that enable OEMs to reduce on-vehicle weight without compromising strength, safety or performance. The company has taken a systematic approach to the market entering in 2015 with the opening of the Shiloh China Technical Center in Shanghai, followed by their first production facility in Suzhou. The Suzhou facility produces our proprietary ShilohCore® NVH dash panels supplied to leading OEMs. In 2017, Shiloh also began producing cast magnesium structural products in the region, which complements our production of aluminum structural products in Nantong. With three production facilities and our local technical center, Shiloh is well-prepared for continued growth in the region.
