Shinhan Financial Group’s Oct. 27 presentation lists KRW 1.6 trillion in buybacks scheduled through year-end; it expects the Lotte Non-Life Insurance deal to lower its CET1 (common equity Tier 1) ratio by 19 basis points.

The company puts the buyback total 28% above the year-earlier level. Its newly approved KRW 450 billion tranche has two completion dates: KRW 200 billion is expected to be completed during 2026, while the remaining KRW 250 billion is due by January 2027. The schedule therefore includes repurchases that extend into the new year.

Shinhan says it will meet the acquisition cost by adjusting capital allocations across the group, with no external capital raise planned. The presentation says the deal is intended to strengthen the group’s insurance portfolio and improve profitability and capital efficiency over the medium to long term.

Shinhan also said it would continue to seek a higher year-end dividend. Its board is expected to revisit that goal early next year, considering capital adequacy, earnings and shareholder returns.
