The last couple of manga installments were exciting and very interesting as they, on a rare chance, highlighted what a powerhouse team Soma and Takumi could be. But moving on to “Shokugeki no Soma” chapter 300, will fans finally get to witness the much-awaited duel where Asahi Saiba is one of the contenders?
Asahi Saiba was introduced last year but the revelation of the character only brought in more mysteries to unravel. And since “Shokugeki no Soma” chapter 300 is a major milestone for the manga series, it would not be surprising if Asahi becomes the center of its plot.
Asahi was officially introduced in chapter 271 where Joichiro, Soma’s dad, referred to him as his other son. But it was later clarified that calling him his “son” was more of an endearment and not in a biological way. Asahi turned out to be lurking around the academy as a disguised professor and has been orchestrating the future plans of the Les Cuisiniers Noirs a.k.a. the Midnight Chefs and these arc's antagonists. Unfortunately, chapter 299 did not give any hints on what will happen in “Shokugeki no Soma” chapter 300 but many are expecting Asahi to step up for his own duel.
Meanwhile, there are several possible and worthy opponents for Asahi. The Anime Scrolls suggests that Asahi could be cooking against Tsukasa in “Shokugeki no Soma” chapter 300. It is important to note that the two chefs have already fought each other in a Bishoku Leading Under-35 Entrance (BLUE) duel. Asahi won and acquired Tsukasa's knife the first time.
The same report speculates it is going to be a duel between Asahi and Tsukasa all over again in “Shokugeki no Soma” chapter 300 so it would essentially become a significant rematch. But the latter might lose for the second time causing his complete elimination from BLUE.
Some fans, on the other hand, are hoping that “Shokugeki no Soma” chapter 300 will include a plot where Erina loses from Asahi off-screen motivating Soma to avenge her loss. Others are also rooting for a Megumi-focused plot in the next installment that will be released on Sunday, Feb. 24.
