SickKids Foundation has set a $2.5 billion goal for a pediatric-care campaign at The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, seeking donations for an approach it says will tailor treatment to individual children.

At its Nov. 2 public launch and goal announcement, the Toronto foundation reported more than $1.03 billion in donations and pledges already committed. The quiet fundraising phase began April 1, 2023, the foundation said. Its announcement did not identify the currency for the dollar figures.

The foundation said 134 donors had each committed at least $1 million, for a combined $351 million. The campaign's volunteer leadership includes a 41-member Campaign Cabinet of business and community leaders and a 10-member Youth Cabinet.

Heal the Future supports Precision Child Health, which the foundation describes as adapting care to each child's biology, genetics and environment. Its stated aims include speeding diagnosis, improving treatment decisions and strengthening the ability to predict. The foundation says intended beneficiaries include patients and families at the Toronto hospital, as well as children in Canada and internationally.

SickKids used the Heal the Future name for its Precision Child Health work in a 2023 announcement. That description presented the approach as using research and data about differences among children, including genetics, environment and lifestyle, to shape care. The foundation's 2026 release described Nov. 2 as the campaign's public launch and goal announcement.

The foundation calls Heal the Future the world's largest pediatric health-care fundraising campaign.

A 2017 SickKids Foundation campaign had a $1.3 billion goal and raised $1.68 billion from 1.3 million donors, according to the foundation's history.
