Silver traded above $57 per troy ounce in two Oct. 20 reports, but the outlets’ different price snapshots produced separate daily gain figures.
FXStreet reported silver at $57.20, up 0.19% from its $57.09 comparison for Oct. 19. Its report was published at 5:30 a.m. ET (09:30 UTC); that was the publication time, not a stated time for the price observation. FXStreet also put the gold-to-silver ratio at 72.10, down from 72.53 a day earlier.
Kitco separately placed spot silver near $57.210 during early U.S. trading and reported a 0.42% increase. The report did not give an exact time for that quote. The two gains therefore reflect different readings, rather than matched prices over the same interval. Kitco described the trading session as volatile.
Silver had also fallen below $57 in Investing.com’s Oct. 19 daily price history, covered in EconoTimes’ account of the previous day’s close. That daily record and the Oct. 20 intraday quotes come from different price measures.
The Silver Institute’s April outlook forecast a 46.3-million-ounce market deficit in 2026. The institute said total demand exceeded supply for a fifth straight year in 2025, even as industrial silver demand declined 3% to 657.4 million ounces. It linked some of the industrial drop to higher silver input costs and competition, which led solar-panel manufacturers to reduce silver use or turn to other materials.
ICE Benchmark Administration operates and administers the daily LBMA Silver Price auction, which begins at 7 a.m. ET (11:00 UTC). The Federal Reserve’s next scheduled meeting is Oct. 27-28.
