The Egyptian State Information Service (SIS) said Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi ruled out attacks on Yemen as part of possible military assistance to Saudi Arabia, while Youm7 reported lawmakers are due to revisit an authorization request on Oct. 26.
SIS said the remarks came during a session at Egypt Forum 2026. It reported that al-Sisi linked stability in the Gulf to Egypt’s national security and described Arab states’ security as interdependent. The account also said Egypt could help defend another Arab country if asked.
Separately, the Egyptian presidency said the National Defense Council expressed support for Saudi Arabia at its Oct. 18 meeting and pledged further diplomatic efforts to ease regional tensions. The announcement did not specify a military deployment.
Article 152 of Egypt’s Constitution requires consultation with the National Defense Council and approval by two-thirds of the House of Representatives’ members for an overseas combat mission, according to EconoTimes’ earlier report on the constitutional approval rules.
Youm7 reported lawmakers will return to the request on Oct. 26. It seeks authority to provide military assistance if Riyadh asks; EconoTimes previously reported the debate had been delayed to that date.
