BOSTON, Oct. 17, 2017 -- LearnLaunch Institute, with co-host MIT Office of Digital Learning, unveiled today the agenda for the 6th Across Boundaries Conference, February 1-2, 2018 at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston.
At each step along the learning pipeline, educators and employers alike cite a lack of confidence in the current system’s ability to prepare learners for success. Innovation can unleash the potential of edtech for our communities and our economy. The conference will bring together experts to discuss these critical challenges.
Keynotes include: Sanjay Sarma, Professor of Mechanical Engineering and Vice President for Open Learning, Massachusetts Institute of Technology; K-12 innovators Thomas L. Rooney, Superintendent, Lindsay Unified School District and Devin Vodicka, Chief Impact Officer, AltSchool.
Sessions will cover early ed to K-12 and higher ed to continuing/adult education. Hot topics include personalizing learning, edtech for workforce development, retaining and graduating higher ed students, as well as edtech applications of artificial intelligence, augmented/virtual reality and blockchain in education.
The conference will address topics such as:
- Instructional Design with the Online Learning Consortium
- Top research findings on edtech, with NBER author Philip Oreopoulos, and Digital Promise’s Aubrey Francisco
- Advice from successful edtech entrepreneurs from Panorama, Ellevation and Ready4
- Redesigning High School, with Alec Resnick and Beth Anderson
- Connecting Colleges with Careers, with Christine Ortiz, PeopleGrove and UConnect
The conference also features the Learning Innovation Showcase with 24 K-12 and higher ed teacher and student teams, and hands-on workshops in design thinking, augmented reality, project based learning, and flipped classrooms.
More than 1,500 entrepreneurs, educators, edtech industry participants, students, and investors will explore opportunities presented in five plenary sessions, a pitch competition, 48 concurrent sessions, birds-of-a-feather dinners, and a startup exhibition area—a sneak peek of cutting-edge innovations that are transforming learning and changing the way educational institutions do business.
