A broad decline among altcoins coincided with gains in three reported crypto sectors in October, with Solana’s decentralized finance (DeFi) segment up 17% month to date through Oct. 24.

Among the three sector readings, Solana DeFi posted the biggest increase, at 17%; DePIN rose 6% and Modular 2%. At the same time, about 60% of altcoins were lower month to date.

A separate October check looked at tokens’ recovery from an earlier drop. Of 169 actively traded tokens in that sample, 153 remained below their pre-drop prices despite a market rebound.

The Oct. 20 EconoTimes tally of crypto sectors recorded 24 of 25 categories lower in its weekly reading, including a 6% decline for DePIN. That report covered a different period from the current month-to-date comparison.
