Solana's October transaction totals use different counting methods, so its amplified 3.4 billion figure and an earlier count near 3.3 billion cannot show whether non-vote activity increased.

Solana pointed to an @tokens post that put October's successful transactions at 3.4 billion and called the total a record for the month. The earlier count covered successful transactions that excluded validator votes.

October's roughly 3.3 billion non-vote transactions followed 3.18 billion in September and 2.93 billion in August. It was the sixth consecutive monthly peak for that measure. The measure leaves out votes validators record to coordinate the network. Trades, transfers and payments contribute to the activity it counts.

The 3.4 billion figure is not identified as a non-vote total, so it cannot establish growth in that narrower category. Transaction totals also do not show how many people used Solana: activity can include actions generated by applications and bots.

A difference between published totals also appeared in third-quarter figures. Solana reported 8.92 billion successful non-vote transactions, while Solana Compass counted 8.78 billion completed non-vote transactions, a gap of about 140 million. EconoTimes previously reported the third-quarter count difference; the published figures did not explain it.
