Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo are singles now after their divorce was approved last week. The ex-couple’s divorce is considered “quiet” even though they are one of the biggest celebrities in Asia. They managed to keep it low-key after agreeing to mediation and a divorce process without a trial.
This is possible because Joong Ki and Hye Kyo settled their case without property division or alimony which means they will go back to singlehood with their assets intact, the same amount from before they got married in October 2017. They did not ask for support from each other as well, and since they do not have a child, there was nothing more to talk about, so the divorce proceedings ended quickly - not even a month.
Song Hye Kyo to take a break
Hye Kyo revealed during her very first interview following her divorce from Song Joong Ki that she is planning to take a break. She said that for the rest of the year, she wants to rest and although she did not say that this is to recharge and heal from her separation, it could be one of the reasons for her planned hiatus.
“This year, I will take some personal time off,” she told Hong Kong’s Tatler magazine. “I need to have some time for myself and apart from events like these, I will take it easy.”
Joong Ki returns to filming
Song Joong Ki immediately took a break after filing for divorce from Song Hye Kyo on June 26. Now, a few weeks after, he is back to work as his projects have already been scheduled. But unlike, his ex-wife, the actor was not visible in public gatherings or on TV, so people only criticized the “Descendants of the Sun” actress for socializing immediately when she just split up from her husband.
Hye Kyo and Joong Ki were married for a short time before the divorce rumors started to float around. People did not believe it as their marriage is still new, but in the end, the rumors have truths in it.
Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo tied the knot after dating briefly. They met on the set of “DOTS” and have fallen in love. Not long after admitting their dating status, they announced their engagement and marriage that unfortunately ended just after 20 months.
