The finale of Songland season 2 just aired on June 15, 2020 and yet there is still no news if we will be seeing a season 3.
NBC has not released any updates on whether it wants a third season or is cancelling altogether a show that gives hope to unknown songwriters.
So, there is hope there for a renewal. Perhaps NBC is withholding its decision amidst the coronavirus (CoVid-19) pandemic.
A season 3 for Songbird would be nice because unknown songwriters will continue to get a chance to launch their career. Getting to write a song for global release is already something that any budding songwriter could hope for.
And even if they do not get to win, they will experience working with successful and famous singers which could also help them as they pursue being songwriters.
Not only that, the show could also forge connections for them as they will also get to work with music producers.
Although the season 2 ratings were lower than the first season, still a season 3 would be something to look forward to.
The guest artists may also have a hand in the viewership of the show as it is believed that season 2's rating has had so much help from Usher.
With his Grammy awards and numerous Billboard hits, Usher was the perfect guest artist for season 2's finale.
Cinemablend, however, believes that while Usher made the finale the best of Songland season 2, it also made for the worst. The reason for both is Usher’s incredible talent.
You see the show would have the songwriters perform their songs and make everyone see how the song would sound if sang by the guest artist. And, to sing like Usher is just not something that anyone can do. Barring that, Songland is still a show to look out for so hopefully NBC would announce its renewal for a season 3 soon.
