U.S. stock indexes opened higher Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2026, as SpaceX reported a quarterly profit and Super Micro Computer, Inc. raised its preliminary fiscal 2027 revenue estimate, lifting AI-linked shares.
At 9:30 a.m. EDT, the Nasdaq Composite stood at 26,601.732, up 0.67%, Reuters reported. The S&P 500 gained 0.31% to 7,736.43, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.30% to 52,652.85. The Nasdaq led the three indexes in percentage terms.
SpaceX reported $14.6 billion in revenue for the quarter ended Sept. 30, 2026, up 161% from $5.6 billion a year earlier. Net income was $4.4 billion, compared with a $1.1 billion loss in the same quarter of 2025.
Super Micro estimated fiscal first-quarter 2027 revenue of $18.5 billion to $19.5 billion, up from its previous forecast of $14.5 billion to $15.5 billion. Its gross margin estimate rose to 12.0% to 12.5%, from 10.4% to 10.8%. The company linked the higher sales range chiefly to demand for AI platforms and said its margin outlook reflected its customer and product mix. Super Micro said the estimates are preliminary and unaudited, have not been finalized, and could change.
Reuters reported that the SpaceX and Super Micro announcements helped ease investor unease over whether the large sums spent on AI infrastructure will generate lasting profits. It also reported that the Philadelphia semiconductor index had fallen for eight consecutive sessions, its longest such stretch in 18 years.
Netflix shares fell after the company’s fourth-quarter outlook disappointed investors, Reuters reported. Netflix’s shareholder letter forecast fourth-quarter 2026 net income of $2.787 billion and diluted earnings per share of $0.67.
Super Micro scheduled a call to discuss its fiscal first-quarter results for Nov. 3, 2026, at 5 p.m. ET.
