Spain's National Police said Friday it arrested at least 12 members of far-right group Nucleo Nacional across seven provinces; El Pais linked the probe to February disturbances in Gijon that left several students injured.

In a post on X, the force named Madrid, Asturias, Guadalajara, Valladolid, Pontevedra, Burgos and Alicante as locations for the operation. Cadena SER later reported at least 14 people had been detained.

Cadena SER also reported that Ivan Rico and Isabel Peralta were detained. It described Rico as the group's leader and Peralta as an ideologue.

El Pais reported that investigators are examining suspected hate crimes, unlawful association and weapons possession, citing sources at Asturias' High Court of Justice.
