About the Partners:
John O’Brien joins Spencer Fane as Regional Development Managing Partner. As such, he’ll work with businesses and media throughout the country to help Spencer Fane expand its practice. He focuses his national practice on banking, agrifinance, agriculture law and transactions, lender liability defense, receivership, creditors’ rights and bankruptcy. With more than 30 years of experience, O’Brien has closed more than $1 billion of loans on livestock production facilities, farms, ranches and other commercial enterprises.
O’Brien regularly speaks about agrifinance matters and presents bank loan documentation training seminars to mid and senior-level loan officers. Since 2014, he has been named a Colorado Super Lawyer for banking, and earned the distinction of Top Lawyer in Denver by 5280 Magazine in 2016. He also won the People’s Choice Award for best agricultural lawyer in Colorado in 2015, and received the Barristers Best award for best agricultural lawyer in Colorado in 2015 and 2016. O’Brien earned his law degree from Notre Dame Law School.
Scott Sandberg focuses his practice on commercial litigation with an emphasis on the construction, financial services, and franchise industries. With more than 18 years of experience, Sandberg represents contractors, lenders, and franchisors in issues including liability claims, bid protests, defense of fraud, breach of contract, and fair debt collection claims.
Sandberg has been named a Colorado Super Lawyer for the past four years in intellectual property litigation and construction litigation. Additionally, from 2009 to 2011 Colorado Super Lawyers named him a Rising Star. He earned his law degree from the University of Utah College of Law, where he was the executive editor of the Utah Law Review.
