Starbucks Japan has launched two exclusive beverages featuring Japanese chestnut and black tea, available only at its 15 specialized Tea & Cafe locations from September 4 to October 31, offering a unique seasonal taste experience.

In Japan, Starbucks offers more than just its typical coffeehouse experience. The chain has 15 “Starbucks Tea & Cafe” locations spread across select areas of the country. These standalone branches emphasize the chain’s tea offerings, featuring exclusive menu items such as Tea Lattes and Tea Frappuccinos unavailable elsewhere.
The ambiance of these stores also sets them apart. Their design incorporates peachy beige tones reminiscent of the mud walls in traditional chashitsu or Japanese tea rooms.
According to SoraNews24, Starbucks introduced its new autumn Frappuccino on August 29. It is slated to be available at its regular branches starting September 4. The Starbucks Tea & Cafe locations are unveiling their seasonal exclusives. This autumn, the menu will feature two distinctly Japanese beverages.
Starbucks Japan Introduces Chestnut and Black Tea Latte, Inspired by the Iconic Mont Blanc Dessert
The first is the Japanese Chestnut and Black Tea Mousse Tea Latte, which costs 678 yen (US$4.68) for takeout and 690 yen for dine-in.
This tea latte is available in iced and hot versions and showcases “wager,” or Japanese chestnut, known for its sweeter and nuttier flavor than its international counterparts. Drawing inspiration from Mont Blanc, a beloved autumn dessert in Japan, the drink features a soft chestnut-flavored mousse and chestnut paste swirls. The latte base is made with Japanese black tea sourced from Kagoshima Prefecture, renowned for its “gentle aroma and delicate taste” due to the region’s unique climate. Specially roasted to enhance flavor, the tea pairs beautifully with milk and Japanese chestnuts, creating a taste reminiscent of enjoying Mont Blanc alongside milk tea.

The Mont Blanc theme continues with the Japanese Chestnuts and Japanese Black Tea Frappuccino, priced at 776 yen for takeout and 790 yen for dine-in.
This Frappuccino shares the same core ingredients as the latte but is blended with more ice for added refreshment. It’s topped with whipped cream instead of chestnut mousse, and like the latte, it’s finished with a sprinkle of Japanese black tea powder, adding depth to the flavor. This allows customers to enjoy the drink at full strength or mixed to taste.
Starbucks describes these new offerings as a delightful way to “enjoy the charm of autumn in Japan.”
These limited-edition beverages will be available exclusively at Starbucks Tea & Cafe branches across Japan from September 4 to October 31, offering a tempting reason to visit these unique locations, just as rare as the drinks themselves.
