The first Ohio fab’s current schedule puts operations five or six years after the project’s original 2025 chip-delivery goal.

Workers have installed a major structural truss at the New Albany site. Intel plans to finish construction of the first factory in 2030 and a second factory there in 2031. The first factory’s operating target allows for a start either in its scheduled completion year or the following year.

Intel announced the Ohio project in 2022 with an expectation that the factory would begin delivering chips in 2025. The project is part of its foundry expansion, through which Intel aims to manufacture chips for other companies.

At an Arizona factory, Intel was producing 18A chips at high volume by late 2025 for use in its own processors. The next Arizona fab is also targeted to enter service by the end of 2028.
