As of May 9, 2025, Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy) reached an all-time high as the worth of its Bitcoin holding hit a record high of $53.9 billion following the surge of Bitcoin to above $100,000. With 555,450 BTC in possession, bought at an average price of $68,550 per BTC, the company's total investment stands at $38.08 billion. Strategy has been very active with bitcoins in 2025, acquiring BTC thirteen times, including a recent acquisition of 1,895 BTC at approximately $180.3 million at an average of $95,167 for each BTC on May 4, 2025.
The company is presently sitting on an unrealized profit of roughly 50.1%, having returned 14% YTD on BTC. Strategy's voracious appetite and high visibility have turned it into the world's second-largest institutional holder of Bitcoin, only after BlackRock. The achievement indicates the payoff from its bet on Bitcoin as a core treasury asset.
To further expand its Bitcoin positions, Strategy has recently completed a $21 billion at-the-market equity offering and has announced a bold $84 billion plan (the "42/42 Plan") to further acquire Bitcoin over the next two years. The plan will have an equal split between equity and fixed-income securities. Strategy's continued investment and capital market action reinforce its status as a leading corporate advocate for Bitcoin adoption and reflect confidence in the long-term value of the cryptocurrency
