“Suits” season 9 is confirmed as the popular legal drama's final installment. Aside from wrapping up the storylines of the remaining characters, fans have been wanting to know if they would see familiar faces such as Patrick J. Adams.
Adams was a series regular since season 1 through season 7 who played the role of Mike Ross, a long-time associate of the firm. His character was written off after Mike got married to Rachel Zane (Meghan Markle). Due to the significance of Mike's character for the most part of the series, it would be meaningful to see him again in “Suits” season 9 and let fans get an update on how he and Rachel are doing since settling down.
Luckily, Adams is also on board with making a cameo appearance in “Suits” season 9. He admitted that nothing is set in stone yet, but at least he confirmed he is trying to make it work.
"We're trying to figure it out and see if it's possible. I hope so," the actor told ET when asked about joining “Suits” season 9. "With schedules and other work that's coming along, it's just a scheduling thing, but I'm hoping so. It depends on the story they write. They gotta figure it out, and if they even want me. You've gotta ask them."
Season 8 just concluded recently and the plot for “Suits” season 9 might not be completed yet. However, if it would up to cast member Sarah Rafferty, who plays Donna Paulsen, the series finale will be perfect with Mike Ross in it. She also hopes Adams could direct one of the last episodes. "That would really mean a lot to me. He's an amazing director and you feel really safe [with him],” Rafferty told the same publication. Adams directed the show's 100th episode that aired in 2017 when he was also still in the cast.
Many scenes of Mike Ross also had Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht) in it. Macht recognized this and even said the show was a “two-hander” in the beginning. The actor really hopes to have Mike in “Suits” season 9 and said if it is not happening, it “wouldn’t be doing justice [to] the fans or myself.”
“Suits” season 9 will be released in summer. A specific release date has not been announced yet.
