‘Supergirl’ season 2,’s episode 6, entitled "Changing", is set to feature Jimmy Olsen’s debut as National City’s newest crime-fighter, The Guardian. The Guardian will help Supergirl save the city from a powerful alien parasite after she is drained of her powers.
The synopsis for “Changing” posted on Comicbook.com stated, “The Guardian debuts to lend a hand after a parasite alien drains Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) of her power. Mon-El (Chris Wood) considers a less than desirable new career which then leads him to contemplate his motives. Alex (Chyler Leigh) struggles with a new reality.”
The incoming episode is set to introduce James Olsen (Mehcad Brooks) as the newest crime-fighter out to defend National City. Jimmy, who is now running CatCo, always served as a sidekick to Kara a.k.a. Supergirl and Clark a.k.a. Superman but will finally have his turn in the spotlight after an alien parasite leaves Kara sidelined.
The Guardian was created by Jack Kirby and Joe Simon and first appeared on the original DC comic book “Star Spangled Comics #7.” Although he has no real superpowers of his own, he possesses exceptional combat and tactical skills and is highly agile. He carries an indestructible golden helmet and shield.
The promo for episode 6 featured Kara preparing to battle a huge alien monster in the streets of National City. Although not much is known about the new enemy, it was suggested that it was originally a human being infected by a parasite.
According to International Business Times, the Parasite is the name of several supervillains from the original DC comic books. The Parasite has the ability to absorb energy, knowledge and super-powers of another being through means of touch reducing the other to a husk of his former self. This makes the villain a formidable enemy of Superman and Supergirl.
‘Supergirl’ season 2,’s episode 6, entitled "Changing", is scheduled to air on The CW on November 14, 2016. It was directed by Larry Teng with a story written by Greg Berlanti.
